Wilcox Central finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Wilcox Central finished eighth in Class 5A region four with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. No team at Wilcox Central ever lost more games in a season than the ten they lost last year. The defense allowed a team record 445 points last season. The Jaguars have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2001 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Jaguars last playoff victory came during the 2001 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Wilcox Central averaged scoring just 13.2 points a game. The Jaguars also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 44.5 points a game. The Jaguars would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-20 record. Since 2010, the Wilcox Central football program has struggled with a record of 9-51. Over the past 25 seasons, Wilcox Central has not won much with a record of 89-169. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 48th in Class 5A and 325th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2001. The Jaguars are led by head coach Charles Moodey Jr. who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 0-10 record in his first season at Wilcox Central. The Jaguars have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Moodey Jr.. Coach Moodey Jr.'s overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 28-27 (50.9%). Over the course of his career, Coach Moodey Jr.'s teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times . The Wilcox Central Jaguars will play in Class 5A region one during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Jaguars remain in 5A but move from region four over to region one. The Jaguars enter the 2016 season in the middle of a 25 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Jaguars will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region one. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Wilcox Central will be to simply win some games. The Jaguars are in the midst of a 25 game losing streak, the longest in the state. They have also lost 18 region games in a row. The Jaguars open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Ellwood Christian on Friday, August 19 at Camden Field. Last year the Ellwood Christian Eagles finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in fifth place in Class 1A region four. The Eagles closed out the regular season with a loss to Selma by a score of 46-0. Wilcox Central and Ellwood Christian have met a total of 2 times on the football field.
